In ‘Green Provence’, Provence Verte, nature and tradition is a part of our culture, but contemporary art plays another key part. In Cotignac this is demonstrated by the Centre d’Art La Falaise, an arts centre situated on the village square. In this beautiful exhibition space, art lovers can appreciate paintings, sculptures and other works of recognised or emerging artists, and join in an eclectic program of concerts and conferences.
This private and charitable art centre was set up in 2015, in a 17th century chapel building of the White Penitents. The “Cotignac Côté Culture” foundation renovated this historic space to provide access to contemporary art so rarely available outside big cities. Through charitable donations, the Centre d’Art La Falaise is developing a collection of art that over the decades aims to protect and build a unique sense of place and memory.
