The exhibition brings together works from a wide range of sources. Recent creations by the patient-artists at the Art Studio of the Établissement de Psychiatrie du Var are shown alongside older pieces from its archives. The display also features works by professional artists working with the patients, contemporary artists involved in the centre’s various cultural projects, and a selection from La Falaise Art Center’s collection.
Some patient-artists have been attending the studio since it was founded in 1987. Within an institution with a 140-year history, almost four decades of engagement with art bear witness to the lasting connections forged with artistic expression.
Beyond the links between art and care, the exhibition design highlights the relationships connecting creation, artistic lineage and transmission. Through this diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, ‘Par où ça passe’ invites us to reconsider art described as ‘marginal’, question our assumptions and explore new avenues for reflection.
