From March 28 to May 30, the Centre d’Art La Falaise presents a retrospective dedicated to Nathalie Eno, a still photographer working on film sets since the 1980s. Through a selection of images created throughout her career, the exhibition explores the world behind the scenes, revealing those suspended moments when actors, sets and light compose a scene even before the camera begins to roll.
Nathalie Eno began her career as an assistant to fashion photographer Dominique Issermann. Her images were quickly published in magazines such as Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan. She later joined the magazine Première, where she spent five years covering numerous film shoots. A recognized still photographer, Nathalie Eno has worked on more than 80 films. Her photographs capture the singular presence of actors and the quiet tension of the moments before and after a take.
etween documentary observation and artistic sensitivity, her images reveal the unseen side of filmmaking: work, waiting and concentration.
Trained in theatre, she also appeared in films after meeting Michel Piccoli on the set of Les Cent et une nuits by Agnès Varda. This proximity to acting informs her photographic eye and her ability to capture those rare moments when the performer seems to step aside to let the character emerge.
With Photography on Set, the Centre d’Art La Falaise offers a sensitive perspective on the world of cinema through the images of a photographer who has observed its gestures, faces and silences for more than forty years.
